  The front features four scenes that are key components of the Battle of Plymouth; including Union soldiers in forts, NC Infantry, U.S. Colored Troops & Confederate artillery. On the rear is a historical drawing of the sinking of the USS Southfield by the ram Albemarle.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 The back of the monument contains an etching of the Rebel Ram Albemarle sinking the Southfield; the major turning point of the battle.
