(Squad 95, 1st Mess) Died 1 Oct 1864 of Chronic Diarrhea. Grave 10158. Widow Sarah J. applied 16 Sept 65 for a pension #109427/72223. Sarah married 12 Oct 69 to David Shook. Minor pension 1 April 1870 #186692/145556. Sarah died 5 Sept 1919.

POW at Andersonville, GA & Charleston Race Course, SC. Died 26 Sep 1864 of Chronic Diarrhea at Charleston Race Course Prison. Buried in Potter's Field Cemetery. Reinterred to Beaufort National Cemetery, SC as an UNKNOWN. Widow Mary applied 7 March 65 for a pension #85398/63493. Oct. 1, 75 Minor pension 1 Oct 1875 #222942/172661. Also borne as VONLEY.
VAUGHN, Joseph K. - Private, Co. A. Born about 1826 in Lawrence Co., PA, son of George Vaughn. Enlisted & Mustered 7 Sept 61 at Callensburg, PA, a 35 year old Tinner. Blue eyes, dark hair, 5’ 11”. Re-enlisted 1 Jan 64. Captured 20 April 64 at Plymouth, NC. POW at Andersonville, GA. (Squad 95, 1st Mess) Admitted 4 Sept to the prison hospital and died 15 Sept 1864 of Diarrhea. Grave 8791. Widow Lavina applied 10 March 65 for a pension #85709/74335.

Discharged 3 March 63 on Surgeon's Certificate of Debility at New Bern, NC. Applied 20 May 63 for a pension #23233/164300. Capt. Donaghy, on retreat from Peninsula in the rain, near Chickahominy River, "I heard my name called and on looking for the speaker I saw peeping from a canvas covered wagon the face of old Joshua Vaun - a man of our company who was detached as a teamster. He invited me to come into the wagon." Also borne as VAUGN.
